Bohème Art-Restaurant, at Kupfergasse 8 in the old town of Rheinfelden, cooks the cuisines of Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia – fine dining from regions few people in Switzerland have ever had on their plate. The menu changes often.
Art-Restaurant means two things here. The art hangs on the walls: changing exhibitions by artists from the region. And it lies on the plate – for most guests, the photo comes before the fork.
Meat and fish are on the menu alongside an unusually large vegan and vegetarian selection – conceived not as side dishes but as main courses.
The terrace sits in the middle of the old town, looking out on the medieval defence tower and its stork's nest.
Bohème is run by the artist Atia Miraz, supported by her partner Michael Derrer, university professor and specialist in Eastern Europe. Both are in the restaurant themselves and look after their guests personally. Bohème Catering is available for events away from the restaurant.
Open Wednesday to Sunday, midday and evening. Few tables – reservation recommended.
