Speisekarte übersichtlich, aber das Essen war sehr gut. Wild, vegetarischer Teller und diverse Thüringer Hausmannskost zu haben. Getränke- und Eisauswahl mehr als ausreichend. Der Wirt ist zuvorkommend und immer zu einem Gespräch bereit. Das Ambiente ist dem Ort entsprechend rustikal, aber hat Stil. Die Toiletten sind modern und sauber.

Von Schellroda aus, kann man gemütlich zum Riechheimer Berg wandern. Ein warmer Apfelstrudel, Kaffee und das "rund-um-sorglos-Paket" in der schönen Ausflugsgaststätte wartet dort. Es gibt auch herzhafte Sachen. Im Frühjahr, Sommer, Herbst, Winter. Meine Lieblingsstrecke mit Lieblingspause hier im Gasthof.
